Thanks for the question! There are simply too many good books around for me to make recommendations. In the spirit of the article, I would recommend the following books for anyone who wishes to learn more:
- The Obstacle Is The Way by Ryan Holiday. He shows how many of the greatest thinkers throughout history have applied Stoic principles to achieve success. Stoicism is still relevant today despite having originated centuries ago.
- Ego Is The Enemy by Ryan Holiday. While Obstacle has been more popular, Ego is in my opinion his best work. It’s one of my favourite books and I highly recommend it to everyone.
- Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. There’s no better person to hear from than one of the first few advocates of this philosophy. It’s proof that we can — and should — always remain grounded no matter how much success we have.
This list is obviously not exhaustive, but I think anyone who reads the above will easily develop a comprehensive grasp of Stoic principles.
